Boats for rent in Hellevoetsluis

Hire a boat in Hellevoetsluis

Hellevoetsluis is not only a fortified city but also the former port of the Dutch war fleet with names such as De Ruyter, Tromp and Piet Heyn. Here, too, the fortifications have been very well preserved. The city has the first stone dry dock in the Netherlands, the "Jan Blanken dry dock" which dates from 1806.

The harbour is now used for water sports. Hellevoetsluis is one of the largest water sports places, with several marinas, in the Netherlands, so there are plenty of opportunities to rent a sailing boat.

Within the fortress of Hellevoetsluis, there are several fascinating museums, such as the museum 'Gesigt van' t Dok' and the national fire brigade museum. The fully equipped museum ship "Noordhinder" is located in the commercial port.

From the "De Hoop" grain mill, visitors have a beautiful view of the fortress and the Haringvliet. In addition to cosy cafes and restaurants, Hellevoetsluis offers excellent shopping opportunities, including in the "De Struytse Hoeck" shopping centre, which was built across the canal through Voorne, the old sea connection with Rotterdam.
